Born in 1952, Dr.
Cooper received
his BS in biology from Ursinus College in Collegeville, PA, in
1973, He then attended Temple University Medical School, and
received his M.D. degree in 1977. Dr. Cooper went on to do a
surgical internship at the Bryn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, PA,
and followed that with his otolaryngology residency at Thomas
Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, finishing in
1982. He has been Board Certified since 1982. He practiced in
Philadelphia a few years prior to establishing his own practice
in Dover, DE. He continues to have an affiliation with Thomas
Jefferson University Hospital and is an Instructor in
Otolaryngology at Thomas Jefferson.
His current affiliations are with
BayHealth Medical Center - both Kent General Hospital and
Milford Memorial Hospital. Dr. Cooper has presented topics at
numerous meetings over the years involving such things as
vascular tumors of the middle ear and benign and malignant
tumors of the head and neck. He has been selected as a speaker
for numerous pharmaceutical companies in the field of allergy
and sinus disease. He is a member of the American Academy of
Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, American Medical
Association, and American Academy of Facial Plastic and
Reconstructive Surgery, a fellow of the American College of
Surgeons, a member of the Medical Society of Delaware and the
American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy. He served as the Chief
of the Department of Surgery at Kent General Hospital from 1994
to 1995, and was President of the Medical Staff from 1997 to
1998. He has intimate working knowledge of HMO's having served
on the Utilization Management Quality Assurance Committee of
Coventry Health Care of Delaware for many years.
His interests lie throughout
otolaryngology including, but not limited to, otolaryngic
allergy, sinus disease, facial rejuvenation such as the use of
botox, collagen, microdermabrasion, carbon dioxide lasers for
skin resurfacing, the Alexandrite lasers for hair removal and
cosmetic surgery of the head and neck. He continues to do
complex middle ear surgery both with and without lasers.
Dr. Cooper has been nominated by Delaware
Today magazine as one of the top doctors in his field five
times (since the inception of Delaware Today magazine's
top doctor profiles).
